On Friday, September 5, 2025, Editor in Chief Alícia Isasi discussed her goals for VPR this year and engaged in discussion with Podcast Director Noah Jenkins on the merits and implications of President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles, D.C., and potentially other cities.  This discussion prefigures VPR’s first debate between Vanderbilt College Republicans and College Democrats, taking place on Tuesday, September 30.

Alícia Isasi
Alícia Isasi, Editor in Chief
Alícia is a junior from the suburbs of Chicago majoring in Public Policy and Economics with a concentration in International and Foreign Policy. She is passionate about promoting civil discourse on campus and exploring partisan issues. At Vanderbilt, Alícia serves as a Team Lead and Researcher in the ROCCA lab. She is interested in foreign policy, specifically U.S. – Latin American relations and China’s growing global influence. Outside of VPR, Alícia enjoys hiking, cooking, playing volleyball, and spending time with her twin sister.
Noah Jenkins
Noah Jenkins, Podcast Director
Noah Jenkins is a senior from Kissimmee, Florida studying economics and history. He works for Senator Marsha Blackburn’s (R-TN) reelection campaign and leads both the Vanderbilt and Tennessee College Republicans. He also was a Summer Honors Scholar with the American Enterprise Institute and has had opinion pieces published in Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report. Besides politics, he is active in Vanderbilt Moot Court, qualifying for the pre-national tournament last season.
